How superstitious are you?...
Kooky as this might sound I'm not too concerned about walking under ladders, although i do take note, but my looking for signs is used as a indication/sign of how the day is going to transpire. I don't know if it's has any connection to AvPD or if it's some kind of OCD type deal, but i would guess we all would have some kind of varying awareness. One of my examples of would be, finishing on an even number or whole number when refuelling and should there be a case where it's not possible, next time I will take that into account and stop on an un-even number to balance out the last transaction. ...not only would i like to hear your superstitions, but to also reach out to but perhaps someone with OCD who could help me with some clarity. __________________ Diagnosed: AvPD. It’s never alright. It comes and it goes. It’s always around, even when it don’t show. They say it gets better. well I guess that it might. But even when it’s better, it’s never alright. |

I believe things (good and bad) come in 3's. It gives me a sort of head's up, as you said, an indication about what might happen. Similarly I read horoscopes, though I don't believe them. I'm more amused when their vague descriptions seem eerily accurate. Still, it's something to look out for.
I also like angel cards, though I ignore the story behind them. Basically they're slips of paper with concepts written on them - like adventure, or beauty - and you're supposed to pull one without looking each day and reflect on them, what does he word mean to you, do you have enough of it in your life or do you need more, that sort of thing. But the superstitious aspect of it - that somehow the card you need that day will magically appear in your hand - nope, I don't buy it. As far as OCD type counting and a need for balance or evenness, I don't do any of that. Good luck finding your answers. |

I'm not OCD and I like things to come out even or in a pattern. I don't care about walking under ladders or breaking mirrors or anything like that. I would say that I am not superstitious because I don't expect bad things to happen when things are not in a pattern. I just like them To be that way and will try to make things even out.

I'm not superstitious with old wives tales either, but my kooky superstitions seem to have been subconsciencly built on looking for signs as a way to "give hope" or if I'm going to pay Karma back. __________________ Diagnosed: AvPD. In a nutshell, It's basically looking for a positive placebo effect.
...,also nothing todo in this case to do with OCD as first wondered in my opening post. __________________ Diagnosed: AvPD. It’s never alright. It comes and it goes. Makes sense.
Glad you figured it out. Sounds fairly harmless, and you said, positive, so as long as it doesn't start to take over, all good in the end. |
