At least 5 jobs in the past 6 years. I don't have AVPD but I did neurological testing and have some avoidant traits that are found in those with AVPD. I have bipolar II and anxiety.

Also, I think I could thrive in something I'm passionate about. I find that because of my avoidant traits I'm unable to push through days when I'm not feeling well and get to work. I don't have the motivation to deal with the anxiety and other symptoms and work at the same time. Whether true or not, I believe that if I found something compelling enough, that mattered more, I would be able to push through.
But I'm not sure that's even true. Definitely something low stress where I'm using my strengths and being challenged a little would be a good fit for me. Also, something where I'm helping someone or feel like I'm really contributing to something. |

I'm 45, I've pretty much had a new job every couple of years. I guess I've had around 8 careers. Stayed in the last one for three years. Think that was a out two years too long. I also have two college degrees. Got a 3.97GPA cumulative on my most recent degree.

I have had only two different jobs as an adult. I need stability and routine to feel safe.
I currently work in a warehouse. I'm overqualified for the job in terms of my education, but the position requires the minimal amount of social interaction I desire. I have been offered a few promotions but turned them down due to low self-esteem and fear of increased sociality with co-workers. Therapy has slowly helped me become more comfortable and assertive in the workplace. Despite this, I don't think I will ever be able to hold a job that requires a great deal of interpersonal interaction, such as a manager or a teacher. |

I can't count all of them, but as far as full-time jobs, I've had three. The others were part time when I was a student.

Three, but only one was full time. I sucked at all three. My ideal job is one where I'm not required to socialize or do a variety of things. Variety means being put in unexpected situations which means utter confusion and inability to cope. My ideal job is one where I can do more or less the same thing every day, am not put in awkward social situations, and don't have to make decisions. But that kind of job doesn't even exist...

I have had loads of jobs and have been fired from every single one of them except two lawn-mowing jobs I had as a teenager. Being avoidant means I just can't be around people; I go crazy from the stress and become insufferable, so they get rid of me. I don't blame them. I'm retired and pretty financially secure now, so those days are gone and it doesn't matter anymore.
I do have a workshop and tools and could make things for sale, but the quandary is it's hard to keep myself going motivation-wise due to loneliness, I could use some company, but can't take having people around for very long. So a lot of my life has been wasted sort of because things just get done better when you work with partners or a team. Eventually I've always eventually gone crazy having someone around. I'm actually calmer now that I've better accepted being a loner. |

Only 5. It's hard getting a job. Interviewing is torture. And it's like winning the lottery to get accepted. Unless it's a really horrible job I guess. That's how I got a cafe job - no one else wanted it because it was so much work.

New job every two years on average. Most of my problems are with learning issues (trouble absorbing large amounts of information) and of course, people. I try to 'be social' but eventually I fall back on my instincts of avoiding people. Which comes off as weird or even hostile.

I've worked 6 professional jobs over my 32 years of life. Most last about two years. It's at this point I find myself checked out, sick of the repetition and structure, and god forbid a boss tell me to do something. Eventually I can't hide my disdain anymore and find a new job, just to have the process repeat.
The idea that I should work for myself often enters my mind, but then, when there's no structure, I end up doing nothing because I just want to be left alone. There doesn't seem to be any good path. |

i can count 10 different jobs although 3 of them were with the same employer but at 3 different hospitals. i worked tossing pizzas, worked in a factory in the office and on the floors for a short period of time when i first started. Then i started at a small hospital, then a lateral move to a slightly bigger hospital and then 2 bigger ones and when i was in college i worked as a research librarian. yep thats 10 adult jobs. I did work in the family business when i was in high school i forgot about that so 11 all together.

Ive had like... 7 jobs in the past 5 years? I havent worked in a year but I kind of wish I was. I like work. Like having my own money and enough income to treat myself occasionally.
Now though Im looking more for a career than a job |

54 yo, care taker for my 90 yo parents. Don't get much things, birthday & christmas money/gifts, but I'm happy working on my science projects. No friends unfortunately because I can't find anyone like me.
It's been about 16 or so years since I worked, thank god! I went through jobs left & right. Working with humans was torture. One of these days if I ever have money I'll try to go to a therapist or someone to heal from the childhood trauma. |
