So hi, I was diagnosed with MDD two years and a half ago and since then almost every therapist I've gone to has said something among the lines of: "Schizoid-avoidant personality" but none of them has formerly diagnosed me with anything other than depression.
However, I've since read a lot about it and I'm pretty sure I have AvPD but I'm not sure if having a formal diagnosis would be any help, what are your thoughts on it? Also, I have a similar problem with Asperger's/Autism spectrum, this is not the proper board for this but may as well say it |

If multiple Ts have brought it up it might be wise to work on the issue. It's not just going to go away if you ignore it or deny it. I don't know what the therapy is for that. For borderline so there's DBT and it a lot of hard work. Wether or not it's put down in black and white as a diganois doesn't matter as much as you deciding that it's a issue in your life and causing problems. If it is then work on it, don't try to deny it or like many other try to get a different diganois.

I completely agree with this.
I was also reading in another thread in this forum where somebody said about not believing in the therapy stuff (or something similar) and being ''treatment resistant'' and how the psych takes on a different role (whether they know it or not Interesting I've recently been reading a book on ''CBT'', I find parts of it somewhat helpful, while other parts I find annoying/triggering. Maybe those annoying parts are where I need to analyze the bear more __________________ |
