Hi,
I spend alot of time at home because of AVPD and my financial situation. Its not easy. I live in my stepmother's home and don't have a car. I talk to her but do not get out much. My two adult sons live with me also. The younger of the 2 (hes 22) has ADHD and a drinking problem. Hes very hard to deal with. I am in treatment for AVPD and have made alot of progress with it. I still struggle with sharing what is going on in my life and connecting with others. I try to speak to my sons' father about what is going on even though he doesn't care and will never be more involved in their lives. Talking and sharing just for the sake of expressing my feelings is still strange for me. There is usually that thought of the criticism I will get, such as " you sit in the house and dont work so who are you to complain about Dad or your kids." The reaction I may receive when I speak is a motivation to keep quiet but its not nearly as bad as it was. Thanks for the outlet - - |

Hi @Wrestle -welcome to MSF. I am sorry you are being criticized for the challenges that make your life more isolated than others may think it should be.
Congratulate yourself on the progress you have made. That is admirable. Others find it easy to criticize you but you are doing the best you can. Try to keep doing self care.
