Most people probably fit some zen. I've lived my whole life being that way with all the symptoms. Only way to know for sure is to get dx. And get help. CBT does help.

Yes, most people fit parts of a lot of mental health issue lists at some time! I'd go to a doctor or counselor and tell them your concerns, see what they have to say

hi...just want to share my experience before. I thought that I only had depression before until I talked to a psychiatrist once. He told me that I might have avpd more than what i have thought before as only depression for myself. I learned a lot though it was only a one time consultation beside the fact that i took up psychology as a course in college. In short, consulting a professional would be a lot of help for us seeking help...

I fit like everyone of those symptoms. I always knew there was something wrong. I don't like mixing with people. I have no social skills, i'm incapable of getting intimate.

That sounds like Aspergers to me. No social skills is like the defining definition of Aspergers. But self diagnosis for any disorder is dangerous and one should always seek the advice of a neuropsychologist or psychologist for a diagnosis.

i took the sanity test this morning and it found that i had BPD traits and when i read the symptoms i also felt i saw alot of me in them. after reading some more, i think i'm not full blown but the traits are there.. .
i feel i need some guidance but therapists in my neck of the woods are too expensive for me at the moment. i thought a support group would help, i hope i have found that place.. tks.. |

If you were to go through every disorder you'll find you have at least one trait of nearly every disorder out there. Everyone has something going on with them at some point in their lives. You'd have to talk to a professional to get figured out what's really going on. I have ALL of the "symptoms". I didn't even know what APD was till Thursday when I talked to my T and we looked at my file to see what the pdoc has on me since we didn't think he knew about the dissociation. Apparently I match the profile for APD though my T thinks that doesn't mean that I have it still. But I dunno now that I looked and saw I have ALL of the symptoms.

Good Grief - I just looked at the information on your link, and I KNOW I have it. Nothing to do but try and try again. I find it easiest to converse with people I don't know - like joking about the long line at the supermarket. With others, when I must be in company, I try to ask them questions about themselves that are not too personal - where did you get those wonderful shoes? billieJ

I don't know where or how to start. I really don't like talking about myself.....come to think of it, I really don't like talking.
I've had depression for as long as I can remember, but was dx officially almost 13 years ago. I am currently trying to decide whether I should be doing meds; it was strongly recommended. When I was first dx, I was on meds for 3 years, but did not feel they were working. I was recently dx also with AvPD or Avoidant Personality Disorder which I am still trying to understand what it is. There isn't much about it; maybe everyone is trying to avoid talking about it. It's been a really bad year. It started with losing my job, I job I hated, in Jan. but it was a complete shock to me. I was overqualified for it; yet I am there no more. I took it very personal. Others keep telling me it's the economy and so many others are out of work, but it still hurts. In March, my father started undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. I'm not close to my parents so in a way it made it harder. In April I started having health issues. I don't do doctors so I just try to deal each day. I started feeling a bit better in May until my dog attacked and killed my cat one night. In less than a week I lost my cat of 9 years and my dog of 8. I don’t sleep at night and can’t stand being awake during the day. It’s an endless loop of misery and dispair each day. I don’t know what to do anymore. I have no motivation to do anything anymore. |
