I was diagnosed with BP II during my second year of my PhD. I was misdiagnosed with MDD for 7 years before that.
It was a challenging journey but I finally finished my thesis March this year and graduated on last friday (but I missed my graduation because the car broke down. )

Good luck to all of you who are studying, if I can do it then you can too!!!!

I still think it's sad you missed your graduation. Somebody really needs to give you a do-over.

I am so SO proud of you, I know that you've been faced with MANY trials and tribulations, but my word you DID IT! And I agree, you deserve a do-over, can't your hubby and a few graduates do a re-enactment for you? Wish I could be a part of it . You did real great my girl, hope you realise what a magnificent achievement and personal victory this is for you! XOXO

Congratulations! I am one year away from my BA in psychology. Two hospitalizations but I have passed all my classes with the exception of a quantum physics class. Your success gives me hope! I plan to go to graduate school after my BA is complete. It is a roller coaster ride sometimes.

An inspiration. I've been twiddling around on my Master's for years. But slow and steady wins the race. So what are you up to now?

I'm in process of earning my RN (Associates Degree) and while doing so living with Bipolar 1. Last semester I took too many classes, I registered while hypomanic and was pushing myself. I landed in the hospital in October for 4 days from mania.

My teachers let me make work up. I'm sorry that your's didn't do the same because that made a big difference in my grades. Prior to hospitalization I had straight As and when I got out half of them dropped to Ds and Cs. The nursing program here is competitive and those grades won't get me in. With the help of my instructors I was able to get them up to half As and half Bs. Had to work my butt off.

Just as you said, pick yourself up and keep going. If you get your illness in check then you can get the grades you want. However, you mentioned taking 6 classes. Is that too much for you right now? I was taking 6 last semester too. Now I'm taking 4 and am at a good place with meds. I'm much happier.

I was glad to read this. I'm about half way through my Associates Degree but plan on going all the way one day. I constantly think about how Bipolar will effect this journey. When I'm feeling defeated I think of people like you. Ya'll keep up going!

Congratulations!!! That must feel incredibly good!! Currently battling through an MA...The pressure of this had me dismiss the idea of a PhD. But you give me strength Dr. BlackPup!

Congrats - that is huge! I might only be a senior in high school, but I already know that I want to go for mine. How long did it take you to write your thesis? I'm worried I won't be able to handle it, but it's important to me.

Congratulations again!
