I don't know if, after all these many years, I have med burn-out or what. I notice that when I start taking an AP it works wonderfully well - for a few days, maybe a week. Then it kind-of stops working, or at least, doesn't work as well.
When I started out on Trilafon (perphenazine) it was a miracle. My intense anxiety went away. I started out on only 2mg. Now I'm at 18mgs and the drug seems substantially less effective. I take 25mg of Seroquel for sleep. It will work excellently for 2 nights; the third night, not so much. So I skip a couple of nights, start the 25mgs again and yep! Works like a charm. Anyone else have this issue with AP's? __________________ |

Yes until I started Clozaril. I've not had a dose change on it in almost 5 years.

Yeah, the same thing happens to me. Geodon worked but only for like a month same with haldol (though that might have been a dosing issue switching from oral to injection). Even on clozaril my dose kept going up up and up.
Risperdal consta has been adequate for over a year now though. If it poops out, I don’t know what I’d do. __________________ If any chord that I could strum Make me feel less like a man I'd slam my fingers in the doorway And shatter all the bones So I could never strum again |

It doesn't seem that this used to happen to me. I'm wondering if it's due to so many years of medications that my brain has learned to adapt to whatever it gets fed. Or something like that. And I know it's not just me, many of us here have been on multiple, long-term meds, yet have to keep searching for meds that work more effectively. I'm so glad the Risperdal is working for you. Maybe that is part of finding the "right" med...one that doesn't crap out in a month. __________________ |
