I've been taking Seroquel 12.5mg and 10mg melatonin to sleep. Every night I've been having nightmares, to the point at which I'm feeling crushed every day. I know that many psych meds cause vivid dreams, but these are flat-out nightmares I'm struggling with.
I'm wondering if anyone else experiences odd dreams from melatonin? __________________ |

I'm not bipolar or taking any other meds, but I do take melatonin and depending on dose, I can have very vivid dreams. Not necessarily nightmares, but a lot going on. I also tend to remember them better.

I haven't noticed vivid dreams from melatonin (but then again melatonin never did much for me). I have definitely had vivid dreams from Seroquel, though. Nightmares and also very emotional, restless dreams. Sometimes I also have trouble distinguishing things from the dreams from reality the next day.

Yes! Exactly...trouble distinguishing the dream from reality. It's extremely unpleasant. Disorienting. I suppose it the "Sero-hell." __________________ |

Yes, it's strange. It's not like psychosis or anything, but for example a while ago I had this nightmare where I woke up thinking my father had died, and that conviction stuck with me for a day or two. I have that sort of thing fairly regularly with Seroquel, and sometimes the feeling that the dream was somehow real will stay for up to a week or so, even if the dream was really bizarre and couldn't have been real. |

You're welcome, and I hope you do manage to get off the Seroquel! I'm planning to stop using it, too, and this thread made me even more certain that I should. |

I had them without it. Too lucid. Seroquel didn't help me though. I would not do anything that you feel is not good for you. Trust your instincts. Someone posted that list of meds, it also includes side effects. Thank you for sharing your information, I am not going to ask for melatonin now.

I never had the vivid dreams with melatonin but it messed with my body temperature - no matter what I was freezing and couldnt get warm. Even at a low dose. I also just found that it didnt help with the sleep all that much.
I hope that you can lower the Seroquel safely and find something different to help with the sleep! |

I haven't been taking it lately, but the melatonin I did take was 3 mg and also had lemon balm, passionflower, and chamomile in it. No nightmares from the melatonin. Usually I only get nightmares when I have bad anxiety or when my episodes, either manic or depressed, get intense. Also, kind of new around here, so hi
