Hi everyone. New here. I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 this last year, and haven't been able to join any in-person support groups because of Covid. I was wondering if anyone new of any free online support-groups. Maybe something with video chatting? Any help is appreciated! And I really look forward to connecting with people on here. It can feel kind of lonely navigating this illness.

Hi @Owl77 -welcome to MSF My Support Forums. I am glad to see you on the site and hope you find the support you are looking for.

MSF has Bipolar and Depression forums that offer the opportunity to share posts with other people with similar interests. There are also discussions that happen in a text format like this post. I think you need 5 approved posts or threads to have access to the chat rooms. There are informal discussions happening there and there are also guided discussions - calendar here (need 5 approved posts to see).

There are also some online Zoom support groups by DBSA. I think these are sponsored by the national office Online Support Groups - Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance
DBSA also has local chapters that may offer support groups in person or by Zoom in your local area. There is also the Boston office Zoom support groups open to people from all locales.

Hope you get the support you are looking for. @CANDC

Hello @Owl77! Welcome to My Support Forum's Bipolar Disorder forum. We would be very happy for you to join us here. I think that this website is especially nice in that it's easy to make friends with others, and people are welcoming here. Other similar forums have their appeal, but the biggies are usually less like a close community.

As was already mentioned, for video support groups, DBSA is the one I know of.
