And to tell women that they will be normally fertile after not having had periods for such a long time...I call BS. And again, yet again, contraception is about the woman's body. And about pharmaceutical companies making big $$$$$ off of contraception for women. When will the time come for men to put their bodies into it?

I apologize for hijacking this important thread. I have very strong beliefs about causing women not to have periods. It has disturbed me when psych meds used to alter my periods (I am post-menopausal at this point).
Mirena is actually mirroring what is natural for a woman. When I had my daughters, two years apart, I tandem-nursed, meaning that I nursed the older daughter through the pregnancy of the younger daughter. I then nursed each daughter for 4.5 years. After the birth of the first daughter, I did not have period for maybe 9 or 10 months. After the birth of the second daughter, I did not have periods for 1.5 years thanks to a heavier load of nursing: two kids nursed. Had I continued having kids and nursing through pregnancies this way, I would have had an occasional period every few years and that is it. This is what I had on Mirena: when they swapped, they sometimes let me be without an IUD for a month or two and yes, the period immediately resumed (this goes to the argument of resumed fertility). I respectfully disagree with you and am very happy with the availability of Mirena that has made for breezy contraception for so many women.

F**k it. I'm just not going to show up for my injection. The rash is now on my face, arms and legs, and the itching is driving me insane. I've been taking 50mg of Benadryl every 4ish hours and it's not doing shyt.

Hmm...

I don't blame you for not getting the injection. The rash is getting worse. I hear that can happen.

If the rash gets any worse you should see a doctor (you probably should see one as it is). You may need a steroid cream or something else besides benadryl and that would get the allergy documented.

Zyprexa, Clozaril, Risperdal, Haldol, Thorazine, and Seroquel have unbearable side effects (but other than Risperdal they worked). Geodon and Latuda didn't work. Haven't tried Rexulti, Fanapt, Caplyta, or Saphris.

I agree with your idea for AP options. Vraylar seems to be a good one for many people. So does Abilify. My med dude swears by Caplyta.

I even just woke up from a dream about this stupid rash. I went to the doc's to get it checked out, but the dr just laughed at me and said I deserved it.

So idk if that even happened because I've been hallucinating a lot lately and apparently don't realize when it's happening unless it's super obvious (like hearing people talk to me in the shower loud and clear with the door shut and locked).

This dream about the dr who said you deserved the rash... sounds to me similar to psychotic voices who say bad things to people in psychosis, such as that people should hurt themselves or that they deserve the misfortune that has happened to them. Maybe I am overinterpreting.

Well, there's that weird space, like when you have a fever, in which you might have a feeling that may or may not be a dream. The thing is, even that could be a result of your body reacting to the source of the rash.

But if you have been hallucinating a lot lately, it means Invega is not working effectively as an AP. So all the more reason to ditch Invega.

I find some doctors can be very dismissive about side effects. I've been having GI problems from beta blockers, and I can't even get the doctors to believe me (even though it is a listed side effect).

I talked to someone from ACT today and she said I "should give it a few more months to see if it starts working and the rash goes away." Yeah, no thanks. Been on the injection for four-ish months if I remember correctly and the pill even longer.

My symptoms this summer have been some of the worst I've ever had and I know some of that has to do with substance use, but I feel like I wouldn't be using if I were sleeping, not impulsive, not agitated, not blacking out, and not desperate to get away from my head. Other than the tail-end of my last manic episode I wasn't even using all that much.

I would go to ER if the rash is on the face, which is so serious. Also careful with steroid creams, not all of them are approved to be used above the neckline. A dermatologist would know. Can you afford going to ER and seeing a dermatologist?

Seems like the rash is getting worse, not better. I'm sorry the doctors aren't taking it seriously.

I have some leftover steroid cream from when I had poison ivy that can be used on the face, just not on the eyelids. Didn't think to use it until just now. I'll test it out on my chest first to see if it works.

ER is out of the question because I already brought it to their attention weeks ago and they didn't say anything about it (I was there for something else though, but I imagine if I go now it'll just be a waste of time just the same as it typically is every time I go these days).

I am very, very concerned about the rash. Every time, without exception, that I've had a med-related rash I was told to stop the medication immediately. That has been true for any kind of medication, not just psych. I suspect they tend to minimize your symptoms and concerns because you're an addict. I saw my sister go through that for decades. It was horrible.
