Ok, I have OCD and thoughts go through my head. I don't know if it's just a manic thing from my could be bipolar, or if it is really an OCD thing. I think about things so fast that I eventually just lock my self in to a mental thought corner and my miond like blocks. I get alot of migraines. Could this be the reason?

Thanks'

Roman James.

Only a pdoc can help you answer this for sure b/c it's hard to say. Being manic does cause racing thoughts, but OCD can make you have obssessive thoughts. As far as the migraines, are you on any meds? Some meds can cause migraines (at least for me they do).
Thanks for this!

I think that racing are different thoughts that are just flying through your head where as obssessive thoughts are thoughts on one thing that you keep thinking about. I get both and they are both very agravating. lol.

That's what I know about that. I am not sure if I am correct or not.

There are many causes of migraines.....I know for me it was like having one continuous migraine that I got absolutely no relief from except when I went into the ER & got a demoral shot (200mg) enough to kill a horse.

They did an MRI & found I had neck problems.....sometime in my past, I supposedly had a whip lash or something that caused problems in my neck.....had to have neck fusion for that & they thought that would help the migraines.....(the accident only thing I can even think of was they I got thrown over the horses head when I was in my equatiation class in college....oops)

The migraines never went away but they had started to give me the duragesic patches when I had my surgery.....they finally upped it so a large enough dose that I no longer feel any migraine pain....there are times when I think the migraine is there with the lights flashing in my eyes & strange sensations that resembled when I was having the migraines....but no pain.....I have been on this medication since 2003. I started with a new pain specialist when I moved here to KY.....he doesn't treat migraines with the med I am on......but because I had such prefect results & have never had to change the dose or anything....he decided to keep it going unless there ever needs to be a change.

It is wonderful to not be stuck sick in bed constantly....smells, sounds, light....would make me so sick it wasn't funny....& my head hurt so bad, it felt like it was going to explode.

The MRI also showed up white spots (leisons)....the pain specialist in California said that was an indication that the migraines were bad & that I wasn't lieing about them....that is always nice for them to have confidence in what I was saying as most thought I was just drug seeking rathr than pain relief seeking.

It was really a mess. I know there is usually a cause.....chemical, or oxygen missing....I think there are as many causes for migraines as there are people who have them.....I think that is why there is so little known & so little they can really do to treat them.

I used immetrex once....me messed up my heart rythm....stopped it immediately.

Who knows how the mind reacts....it could be that there is something that goes on in your mind when you are having your thoughts that is causing the migraines.....convincing a Dr of it is a whole other trick.

Convincing them that you are really in pain in the first place it a good trick sometimes.

I wish you the best at least at finding something that will handle the pain so you will be able to live again.

Debbie

I know what you mean.....I had continuous migrains pain that sat at a 20 on the pain scale of 10 for months, years on end before I finally found a pain medication that works. Even the demoral shots only helped for a few hours & it was right back. It wasn't break through pain either....it was CONSTANT PAIN. I hated it when I was treated as "drug seeking".....now that I have been on this pain medication since 2003, I haven't needed any other medication....it takes care completely of the pain without any break through or anything......I have finally been able to live again....once one Dr was willing to help & it continued to work for so long....it was a little difficult to convince my new Dr here but with such a long history of it working....it wasn't that difficult. It is just finding what works & finding a Dr willing to work with you.

Hope you can find some help soon,
Debbie

I read somewhere that there are antidepressants that treat both OCD/anxiety and migranes. Can't remember which one(s) but maybe have that in mind when you talk to your dr next.

I know it may sound weird but I notice my ocd getting worse when i am manic,as for the migraines, I had them off and on for a few years where only a shot would get rid of them, then they just stopped and I haven't had one in about a year. Not sure what to tell you about that one. Just make sure you talk with your doctor. Jen
