Has anyone ever been given Trileptal for Bipolar, and if so, what did you think of it; did it help? Thank you.

I have been on it for 40 days. I have gone up to a dose of 1800 mg. I think it is doing nothing for depression, anger and irritability. I have a call in to my p-doc. I hope it works well for you. Everyone is different and it could be the charm for you.
Thanks for this!

I took Trileptal for almost a year for the goal of mood stabilization. My problem has always been depression rather than mania. It seemed to have a period where it worked, but it was never used as a solo drug. It was always combined with something and my moods were constantly swinging up and down. When I started Lithium 4 months ago my moods finally evened out and I feel fine and I'm only taking Lithium. With the Trileptal I was up to 1200mg and was taking 4 other meds with it. It's not extremely potent but for some people it works. I had no side effects from it which is great but I'm not sure it worked real well considering how I now feel on the Lithium. Hopefully it'll work for you though. I do know people who have had great results with it. Take care!!
Thanks for this!

I took Trileptal for about a year. Although I have been on 2304982304 meds, it is one of the few that I stayed on for a long time.

To be honest, it did absolutely nothing. I did not notice a difference.

I was switched to Lamictal, which I have been taking for over a year. It has made amazing differences.

My dosage for Trileptal has been reduced from 1200 mg to 900 mg because I was very forgetful and at times confused. I also take the medication at bedtime, while I have just started taking Prozac in morning instead of bedtime.

PEACE!

I am on 1200 mg and I split it into a morning dose and an evening dose. With the addition of Prozac in the morning and Seroquel, I feel it is working a lot better than before. By itself it was not doing much.

Of course that all can change in an instant, as we all know. I hope your new dose works better for you.
Thanks for this!

So far, it's only been a week, 900 mg Trileptal in the evening and 60 mg Prozac in the morning seems to be working well.

Have a GOOD WEEK Everyone!!!
