When I started going to the psych a few months ago I was started out on three medications, taking four pills a day. Now I'm on five different medications, taking eight pills a day. Every time I go in it seems like she gives me something new to counteract some side effect or to supplement existing medication and I really getting sick of it. I don't want to stop taking my meds, but I don't want to continue on this never-ending path of pills she's got me on. I go to therapy once a week, I don't succumb to any bad influences or behavior that may trigger an episode, and I pretty much stay on the right track. I've been doing those things since I was on my initial scripts and was doing well. Now I just feel like I'm going to go crazy from all the crazy pills I have to take. Is all this really nesscary to maintain my bipolar? What can I say to her to make it stop prescribing me all this medication? Someone give me some options here, because I am all out of 'em...

I too was on a whole bunch of meds to start but, once they got me stabilized the amount of meds decreased. Once in a while I need to have them tweeked or add one temporarily. Considering the alterative... I will keep taking them! I agree with you though, it does sometimes seem a bit crazy, Jen

So basically it will always be ever-changing, sometimes more, sometimes less? I think I can deal with that, as long as I know there is a "less" period coming!

once you are stabilized you could go quit some time (even years, so I have heard) with no med changes. I have only been diagnosed 2 and a half years ago, but things have gotten alot better for me, Jen

I'm on 5 different meds. 13 pills a day. I usually don't make any changes. I don't need to, this combo has been working well, so I don't want to mess with it. Sometimes I think the pills are too much, but I know what will happen if I stop taking any of them, so I just stay on them.
