If you are at that point of recognition that you can't handle it on your own any more, it's a first good step. I know it seems terrible to be out of control, but like a hospital visit I was forced to take, it opened my eyes that I did need some serious help. And now I'm getting it.
If you go to a treatment facility voluntarily because you know you're in danger of doing something, it will fare far better with your recovery. The more cooperative you are, likely the shorter the stay you will have. The doctors are there to help you get well, not to take away your freedoms or turn you into a docile zombie. Believe you me, they want to help you find a treatment that will be best for you. If I were you, I'd do a little research online about the local treatment facilities (psych wards, hospitals, etc.) and see if there's one you prefer. If you're in no shape to do such research, go to a local hospital emergency room and let them know what's going on. At very least make a phone call if you're having dangerous thoughts to someone who can help you. I'm sure there's a friend who would be willing to take you to such a center if you asked them to. I and others on the site are concerned for your well being. Having the feelings you've been having is not wrong, but not reaching out for help due to them is worrying and I'm honored that you've shared some of this with us. I know there are people who love you and care about you. Please let us know that you're doing okay and are reaching out to a professional. ![]() We're here for you and will listen. Sorry if I seem to be making more of this than what you feel at this moment, but as we bipolars know, moods are shifty.
