Sounds like cyclothymia or rapid cycling. People who don't get manic, only hypomanic are often dx'd bipolar ii. There is info on this site and other places that explain the types of bipolar disorder. Not all have weeks or months of mania followed by weeks or months of depression. My bipolar is on the depressed side 95% of the time.
Sorry you are suffering so much. I do have days like that all the time where my mood is out of control and ever shifting until I get exhausted and have to crash (sleep) no matter what time of day it is or how good of sleep I had the night before. I attribute it to the chemicals in my brain going haywire (too much of some, too little of others). If you're on meds, have they been re-evaluated recently by your p-doc or nurse? The best thing to do is bring in all the journals or info you have on your mood swings, or if you don't keep records, just explain to them the extent that the moods are interfering with your well being and daily life (ability to function at work, home & school, etc.). I'm going to see my psych-nurse tomorrow because of my recent intense mood swings and severe depression and see if there's anything she can add to my regime until the Lamictal starts (hopefully) to work. Stay in touch and let us know what you do to get some help. ![]()
