Hi Bri,

I know it's really hard living with someone who is moody. My father was that way but he didn't have bipolar, at least not that I knew of. But I do. I have pretty mild moods. And I know even at that, it is hard on my husband.

All you can do is ask him if there is anything that you can do for him. And try to remember that if he's mad, it likely isn't your fault. Ask him to tell you if he's mad AT you for some reason because you can't tell because he gets mad so often. If you say that (if you feel comfortable doing that) then the ball is in his court.

If he says there is nothing you can do, take him at his word. He can't expect you to read his mind. He has to learn to communicate with you in spite of his illness. The biggest quality you can have is patience.

Best of luck to you, sweetheart.

Encourage him to take his meds and go to therapy. If he doesn't have a therapist, encourage him to get one. Tell him meds and therapy is the traditional treatment for bipolar.
Best Wishes
