I'm not sure how to put this so that people don't get really offended. Has anyone else around here noticed that the general tone of discussions has gotten a bit nastier? I really am not specifically referring to any particular posting, but in general it seems to have been a long, slow slide, and not just on this board.
Am I completely out in left field? I know I probably somehow have contributed as well, but what can we do to turn this around? It's ok to disaggree, but in some cases this has gone a bit overboard.
Thanks for this!

Honestly, I haven't noticed a ton of negativity, and I'm highly sensitive to anything that sounds critical. Of course, I've only been in this forum, and not for very long. For me, this has been very comforting and reassuring.

We all have to remember that we are all going through things together, but we are all different people. Sometimes what triggers one person doesn't trigger another person.

We all have to remember to be sensitive to others.

Also, when we are not speaking face to face, sometimes we read things through our own emotions. Our interpretation sometimes depends on how we are feeling when we read something.

Thanks for posting lonegal.

Thanks yourself. It's just that I noticed a spate of heated exchanges where suddenly people sort of dropped off; I myself haven't felt particularly wronged. anyway. Thanks for the thought.

Yes-I've felt the neg. "attacks" & stopped hanging around here as much & even fearful of posting where some people are that seem to have a short-trigger response into anger, blaming, accusations & such. Too bad as it didn't used to be like this...

Uhm, Dudes, or dudettes, I wasn't meaning to hang anyone out. I think that with the holidays coming up, folks have been a littl more easily triggered. What do you think?
Thanks for this!

I have seen some threads on PsychCentral with a bit of arguing but compared to some other communities I visit the fights here are more like pillow fights.

If somebody disagrees with something I say I would much rather they tell why they disagree than remain silent. On another community I changed my thinking a couple of times after hearing other members state why they disagreed with me. Civilized debate can help personal growth.
