I know there is a 'drug' forum but I thought this was the best place to post.

My question is which one(s) is most like Geodon? I want to go off the anti-psychotic all together but don't want to stop cold. And what are the side effects of coming off Geodon? And others like it?

I was taking Chantix. And fell into a black depression. There was no way out other than...you know... Also I'd have rages. My pdoc saw me for 15-30 minutes and wrote on the corner of my paperwork, Bipolar NOS. Now, at the time, Chantix wasn't factored in. And now that hindsight is 20/20, I think the Chantix had a LOT to do with my actions. I want to go off the Geodon but what if I'm wrong and the rages come back? I can't put my family through that again. I take Wellbutrin , too. I want to stop that as well. I don't think it works anymore. I've been on it for maybe 4 or 5 years. I get sad. Everyone gets sad from time to time, right?...and factor in new hormones ( I just went off the pill due to other medical reasons)

I don't know why I'm posting all this... But I do know SOMEone here can realte..? maybe?

I didn't do well on Geodon (intense daytime sleepiness to the point of falling asleep while driving on day 4 of Geodon) but I know it works very well w/other people. Did great mood-wise on Lithium (LOVED IT--NEVER FELT SO GOOD) but it caused kidney malfunction so had to get off it. Did very well on Abilify as far as treating symptoms (paranoia, mania & depression) BUT after 12 yrs. gained 50 lbs. so then had all sorts of physical problems (now on meds for high blood pressure, high cholesterol & diabetes) so have to get off Abilify as it is also making me very depressed to have this weight gain. Also, took Wellbutrin one winter when I went quickly into a suicidal depression. It worked very well & was able to get off it in the spring. Do use a full-spectrum light in the winter now.

Trial & Error & lots of communication w/your meds provider, as well as educating yourself are CRUCIAL. good luck...
Thanks for this!
