I live in Tennessee. We are having major budget cuts in the mental health system. Many people are having a hard time finding help, How is it where you live?http://hopeworkscommunity.wordpress.com

There are 3 psychiatrists and maybe 6 psychologists in my area. There is also community counseling (which charges based on income), but most of the same pdocs and ts work them and a private practice. CC really is not the greatest. I attempted to visit a t there and it ended horribly for me. There isn't even a psych unit in the hospital here.

Here's a quote about statewide cuts from a paper here in MS:
Quote:
Barbour's Executive Budget Recommendation for Fiscal Year 2011 calls for closing four State Department of Mental Health facilities and six of the seven mental health crisis centers.
The proposed cuts would result in significant savings - $18 million in the next fiscal year and another $10 million for 2012. Overall, closing centers would save $35 million, but some would go to other mental health needs and some to other state services.
