well, I said I'd post when I knew about the meds. Well, I have a new psych, an older doc who seems to know what he is doing. I couldn't do Seroquel at all and he put me on Lithithum. He hasn't taken me off the Haldol yet but the way he talks he will. I feel great. I just went through a round of really bad headaches and had to miss a lot of work but now am ok.
I have emphathy for all the people posting with depression issues. I have tried suicide 4 or 5 times when I was young. I had a really bad manic episode when I was 39. See, I'm 56, and I guess, well they are still getting my meds right. I was epileptic too when I was young and they thought that was my problem why I was so emotional and up and down. They didn't know much back then and the word bi-polar wasn't even invented yet.
Writing it down helps and finding someone who will just listen helps too.
Plus getting the right meds if possible. And you got to be determined and get over your self-pity. I had to. Hang in there.

When I was first diagnosed with "Major depression" officially in 1985 (after being medicated on and off for six years before that) you had to have had extreme mania and/or psychosis to be considered for a Manic-Depression (Bipolar I) diagnosis. I am 57 years old. After years and years of failed attempts with antidepressants, I was finally correctly diagnosed as Bipolar II in 2004. I also have PTSD. So, isn't it amazing what the appropriate medications will do? I finally am living some semblance of a normal life!!!

Congratulations to you!
