I've been doing so well, and then this week I came down with a respiratory crud. I went to my family physician and I'm on an antibiotic and I have a good cough medicine with codeine to help me sleep at night. But now I'm feeling really off center. Depressed. Not sleeping well. I know it's from being sick, but I hate how even being a little sick messes with this disease. Do you have this problem too?

I read somewhere that depression after an illness is quite common. You might want to do some research on your own to find more specific information on it.

im really glad you posted this, because i have been thinking the EXACT same thing these last couple of days. i've been sick... same thing, upper respiratory stuff... and have been miserable. and i remember last time i got sick, i was really low too. i think it does throw off some balance in this disease. perhaps our bodies are busy fighting off whatever virus it is that it leaves little energy reserves for staying emotionally stable. i dunno. but to answer your question, yes. ive noticed it too. hang in there.

Thanks for responding. I've slept all day at least. Tomorrow back to work.

Sure it can. It makes you feel like crap and it pisses you off, so it can easily interfere with your mood. I can see how it would make it seem like "Just when it can't get any worse, I get a damn cold!" type of thing.

Absolutely being sick throws things off. Plus if you're on Phenergan VC with Codeine (brand name, US) the Codeine has a depressant effect anyway so being sick + Codeine = yucky mood. Hang in there! I know it's rough because the sickness is bad enough but then the meds don't help your mood. Hang in there and things will turn around soon.
