I suspect my mother is bipolar. I don't know for sure. She has been diagnosed with Major Depression. I don't know if the doc is right?

Depression is often the first Dx one receives. That's the exact same Dx that I got at first. Then I started thinking about all the times that I could do 4 times the amount of work as anyone else in the same amount of time...heightened levels of creativity...impulsiveness and tendencies to make decisions based on great and grandiose end-goals, feeling super-human...classic symptoms. The only good thing about mood stabilization drugs is that there is no "high" to come down from. And crashing down from a "high" often causes severe depression.

Was she really "up" before this depression began that she's in?
