Right, will try keep this as brief as possible:
1. I really like my GP, I can relate to him, he is available and listens to what I have to say.
2. When I phoned him to ask for a recommendation with regards to a pdoc, he recommended Doc A. Doc A only had an opening in 2 months (I think this was because it was an inital appointment) and I felt I couldn't wait that long.
3. So he recommened Doc B - I could see Doc B within a few days, she made the dx of BP II and I've seen her a few times since Feb. I am concerned that she doesn't take me serious enough when I tell her that I'm suffering from serious depression, or that I feel my meds are not helping as much as they should in the current combo...
4. I think I'm actually intimidated by her, lol
5. Now my script is about to run out - I'm sure i could get a new one from my GP, but I have not ever seen him for this reason...? Nor does he know i suffer from BP II. I used to have serious doctor phobia, and I think it's coming back.
6. My thinking right now is to go to my GP and get a script. Then possibly consider setting up an App with Doc A, as I can now wait 2 months for a med change (I'm fairly stable right now).
7. one of my biggest concerns right now is that in South Africa, BP is considered a chronic condition. Medication for all chronic conditions have to be covered by medical aid, even though some medical aids will provide a list of what medications exactly are covered. I'm not sure if a specialist must fill in the application form, or if even a GP can. This means I wouldn't have to pay for medication.

OK, just a ramble - not sure if my brain is all there

From what you've described, I would go to Doc B for the refill and try to get in to Doc A in the meantime to see if you like him/her better. If so, then switch; worse case stay with B. I can't see going back to the GP at this point only unless had access to no doc at all. I don't know if this helps or not. But I am a firm believer in finding the right doc for you that you are comfortable w/ but making sure you are not w/o care in the meantime. Good Luck!

I hear where you're coming from. I just really don't think I feel comfortable with Doc B. I naturally also am not prepared to run out of meds (Stopped 20mg lexamil cold turkey once, and will NOT go through that again!)
I also need another script for my contraception, which i can get through my GP, and am trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. I also just feel so much more comfortable around my GP.
I have a friend that has only ever been treated by her GP for BP. Hence this thought crossed my mind.
I've been to 2 Pdoc's in just over a year; while I understand this can be a lengthy and time-consuming process, I'd really like to settle down. Ironically that's how I live my life too - I just want it to slow down and settle.

If you think the GP will prescribe it and more comfortable there, definitely worth trying. Worse case then if GP says no, you just have to see Doc B one last time just for med refill. Wherever you're comfortable but I would make an appt. asap for Doc A in the meantime so you can get in sooner than later.

Yeah, I do agree with setting up the appointment with doc A asap - just need to google them first I like to know what I'm dealing with....
I did e-mail doc B this AM, as I was supposed to get back to her +- 4 June to let her know how I was doing, then I dragged it out. Yet she still hasn't called to see how I'm doing, so I think I'm going to act like a spoilt brat - she's not making it very clear that she really cares about my well being... I've also asked her to assist in filling in a chronic medicine application form so I don't have to pay out of my own pocket, but she hasn't been too helpful.
I don't know why I feel intimidated by her - she's about 65 (But very feminist) and I'm 24. I just don't seem to click, she doesn't seem to care, so that's enough of an excuse for me.

That she wanted you to let her know how you're doing is a good sign though. I don't know anyone who likes to fill out forms, that may be the hesitation there with the application. However since you definitely are not comfortable with her, I would definitely research the other and keep that option open; you may or may not like Doc A better. Won't know until you check. Just be sure to get your meds in the meantime from B or GP, too important. Health & wellness.

If it were me personally I would go to doc B, even if I don't like them. Most GP's aren't comfortable prescribing certain psych meds, at least that is the case in my area in the USA. Then you can make an appointment with doc A once you get your scripts.

Thanks for your input Skully. I'm just actually so overwhelmed with anxiety today, and think this is a BIG contributing factor. I HATE talking to people, therefore even making an appointment scares the hell out of me. My GP has seemed very happy prescribing me AD's in the past (before I saw or a Pdoc, or even while I was seeing a pdoc and my meds were running low, he'd write me a new script.
I just wish doctors knew the agony we were in - be it mental or physical - and take their role in our lives that muc more serious.
