Hey guys...

I just started the Tegretol 4 days ago, and it makes me feel DRUNK, falling over DRUNK... I had to miss work yesterday...

pdoc doesn't seem concerned, he just lowered the dosage...

Should I be concerned???

What kind of effects did you experience when you first started your meds?

I hate tegretol. It doped me out so bad I had to suspend uni. I lost my memory, my concentration and any resemblance of a brain... NEVER AGAIN

Why are you on it? migraines or mood? (the mood effects are not particularly well substantiated)

some people seem to like it, but I totally hated it, I think it affects different people differently, I seem to get knocked out easily... hang in there
Thanks for this!

Thanks BlackPup
Just got off the phone with the pdoc, he halved the dosage again, so now I'm down to 100mg a night. He said that I need to check in with him on Monday...

I felt like such a baby calling him, but hey, I might not be new at being a "different" but I'm new at being dxd and medicated...

He was so nice about the whole thing, said I had every right to be concerned, and that I should never feel bad about calling him... I like him. Can't he be my T as well? I need a T. but don't feel like hunting...

Thanks for the input though!

Trippin2.0, no need to feel like a baby. I have started on many medications, over thirty. I stopped suffering in silence long ago. If the medication is not working, the psychiatrist is going to know about it.

Good luck.
Thanks for this!

Tergretol made me brain dead and extremely tired all of the time. I took it for probably 4 mnths before I gave it up.

Hope you are feeling better! Tegretol is working for me (800mg), so it's probably just a matter of time. The side effects should go away. I'm hoping it works for you!

And as everyone else has said, there's no shame in calling your pdoc. It's what they're there for! I have asked many questions about my medications, and learned some important things. Sometimes questions NEED to be asked.

I had to keep cutting down my Abilify......it made me an absolute zombie.....could not keep my eyes open, no matter what was going on. When I got down to a microscopic dose, and developed Tardive Dyskinesia, my pdoc took me totally off it and has me started on Seraquel......so far so good......no falling asleep everywhere......

Just thought I'd check in and give you guys an update...

The 100mg at night doesn't make me feel like a drunken master

Will call the pdoc later today to let him know...

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement!
