Was just wondering if other people notice the people they care about think that you do not care about them when in reality you do. It is just that at the time you are feeling so depressed, that we have no energy and can barely get out of bed?

I've not had anyone *mention* it, though I'm really not close to people, so that's not surprising. It did occur to me not long ago though, that while people tend to think of losing friendships etc in manic times, anything I have goes wonky during depressive phases. I just can't write. Or can't really say what's going on and mean to get back to it when maybe things are better. Then it just never happens. I suppose people are just used to me disappearing for spans of time, but to be honest, I think most of them don't even notice when I'm not there. They've certainly never asked.

The people who are close enough to notice me disappearing all know why I do it... Everyone else doesn't really notice coz they are all to busy with their own lives.
I'd suggest that if it is becoming a problem with someone you care about, then let them know... "sorry I haven't been around much, I've been really depressed and haven't been able to leave the house..."

I also get this quite a bit. But my boyfriend has gotten a whole lot better, and lets me disappear when I cannot cope. He then looks after himself for the time being, and respects that I just need time out.

But people that don't know you well, can really take it the wrong way

I have been called a heartless ***** when I was in a depression by a person who was supposed to be a good friend. My husband also called me a burden just the other night. My point is that if the person isn't close to you, just let it roll off your back. Hell I did with people who are supposed to be close to me! Lol!

Thanks for the feed back. I try and not dwell on the things and the people I have lost because of this but sometimes I get reminded of it and then the depression kicks in. Guess I need to turn it around and focus on what I haven't lost and the the things I have gained.

You cannot focus on what other people think of you - it wastes too much energy, as 9 times out of 10 you cannot change their thoughts anyway.
Live your life in a way that makes you happy and proud, and let the others fit in or F**K off!
