I have always loved music, no, make that I need my music. I just recently stumbled upon piano sonata 09 opus 14 (I have no idea what all that means), but it's by Beethoven and it is absolutely divine. I never really thought to listen to classical music, specifically the piano and I feel I don't know, something, sitting here with it playing. That feeling in my heart and soul that maybe everything will be okay. Most of my music in pretty mellow anyway. I like alot of indie rock and other non-mainstream bands/artists. I have been listening to Tori Amos since I was a kid. I just like her raw emotions. I like the kind of music that can tug on your heart strings and wake up your soul!
I think the perfect job would be the person who picks out the music for movies. I think it is so neat that music can be played during a scene and make you feel how they want you to feel. I always find all these strange no name bands and then a few weeks later, I will hear the same songs in a movie...I am thinking, man I could have done that! I guess they are called music producers?? I don't know.
Anyway, I just thought I would share. I know I always feel better after my music! Maybe it could help you too!
Thanks for this!

Hear ya! Love love LOVE my music. Nothing else has quite the same effect. I don't know what they call those guys, but it *does* sound like a cool job! Sounds totally like you could do it--you've got your finger on the pulse, seeing things just before they hit. That must be such a fun feeling when you hear those!

Well, at work I spend 80% of the time in my own world with my iPod.
At the moment it's Enya and Katherine Jenkins

For me music is a type of medication. Or healing. Something like that. But I need it, can sometimes shift my moods with it, and sometimes it is what sustains me.

That sounded so dramatic, but it's the truth. It's so important to me.

Music can be very healing. Shakespear once said "music is the eyes of the soul." How true that is.

Music makes my world go 'round.

Whenever I'm down, I listen and feel a bit better automatically. This is stuff that isn't depressing but uplifting, for my at least.

Cheers

Years ago I listened to stuff like Tori Amos (so beautiful it would make me cry) and the Smiths (so depressing it would make me cry).... then I don't know what happened, I guess tastes change over time, but now my focus is blues rock and rock n roll. Nothing calms me down these days like turning Led Zeppelin up to a deafening level and sing-screaming along... before I know it the anger is gone, I've stopped shaking, and instead I'm just focused on how unbelievably awesome Led Zeppelin is.

That's when I'm angry... when I'm sad, nothing cheers me up more than music like Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. I can't help but smile. When I'm getting riled up while driving, it's classical music... since the rock would make me drive faster and probably not pay attention as much.

There's something out there for everyone... music that will make you happy, sad, and any other kinds of emotions that people experience... even those people who are pretty good at controlling their emotions.

I would be nothing without music... nothing without loud guitars... it's what gets me through life, practically

rkba97: I LOVE Led Zeppelin! Nothing like "Ramble on" to make ya feel good! I just added a bunch of new songs to my ipod so I have been in heaven all day. Oooh, I forgot about Pink floyd, my momma got me started on them as a young tyke!

led zeppelin is only the greatest ever. but during my last manic episode i found playlist.com and made a bunch of list (check it out under rcsweep) with everything from gogol bordello to black keys and north Mississippi all stars.
its kind of funny now but a lot of the new songs i picked because i thought they had some special meaning and was some how communicating a message, of what and from whom not a clue. who said delusions where omnipotent? now i listen much like most people but smile at what it all could mean.
