I think my new meds are working , I am on lamotrigine trileptal lexapro and trazodone I am Bipolar 2 . I went to dr yesterday my son wanted to come in the room with me which was fine but surprised me he talked to the dr about which bipolar I have and what to look out for because he really dont know he always figureed my behaviors were just me and so did I ! Loooking back I do remember some of my crazy behaviors and how my parents would react to me , which was never good of course but thats all water under the bridge now because they wont even talk to me now !

anywho im getting off of the subject which is normal for us with bipolar to do when thoughts spill out with out any notice.

so far no problems with the lamotrigine !

and i want to thank you all for posting because I am learning so much about my self because i recognize me in you and i feel a bond Im not alone anymore thank you thank you thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for this!

Wow, great news!
I was on Trazodone; used to make me very sleepy, but was great for the anxiety. I have just started Lamotrigrine, so I'm also holding thumbs. I couldn't take Lexapro, as it killed my libido, and it didn't do much for my depression.

Glad your son is becoming so actively involved!!!

Good Luck! I am feeling like I am on an upward swing too. Hopefully it will stay this way. I just feel "normal!" I love it.

me too! YEAH for happy efficient days!! I can actually get stuff done and not in an angry bitter way. LOVE IT!! Hard to sit still though... gggrrr... my doctor told me to lower my prozac but I dont want to!! Im on 60mg per day and he wants me to only take 40 and see if I am still this "anxious" but I know its because he sees that its made me a tad manic and with my history thats bad news... OOPS sorry for hijacking... just wanted to say YEAH! glad were having HAPPY DAYS

That is great to hear mommasuesue!!! I know it is a long hard road trying to find the right drug cocktail that works. I have been through quite a few myself. That is cool your son is actively involved in your care. My family just kinda looks over it. I feel like if they don't aknowledge it, then it doesn't exist. Anyway, kudos!!!!

Hi newtobd I posted on another thread that you posted on, so I will just post my response here as well. To start a new thread there is a tab at the bottom left of the page that reads "new thread" just click that and you can start a new thread to ask any questions you have. I'm new too and it was a bit of trial and error to figure my way around.

Lamictal is actually not a great med for controlling the upswings and sometimes has an add on med to help with that. Lithium is a better med for controlling the highs. As far as dosages everyone is different I am on 125 mg, but I have more issues with major depression. I also take 300 mg of wellbutrin/day (anti-d)

Perhaps ask your husband if you could sit in on his P-doc appointment and/or speak to him/her about the symptoms you have been noticing. I am not a fan of either depression or the hypomania, so "enjoying the summer" while hypomanic would be nearly impossible.

I can suggest a great book if you haven't read it already "Loving Someone with Bipolar Disorder" by Julie Fast. Hope that helps.

I've been told that Lamictal is very efficient for the depression part of BP?? Lithium is used more frequently for those people that battle more with the mania side of BP.
Anyway - that was my pdoc's take on the matter
