I start group therapy today and I was wondering if any of you do this and if it is helpful.

I've never done group therapy, but I wanted to wish you the best. I hope that it really helps.

I did group therapy while I was hospitalized (6 weeks); I did outpatient and then I took part in an intensive 8 hour / day therapy program. That program really made a difference for me. My experience is you get out as much as you put in. I know it can be intimidating to speak about personal feelings in front of others, but my experience has been that everyone was very supportive. Good Luck and keep us posted.

It went really good. I was nervous about being around so many strangers but, they were all really nice. I think I'm going to really like it.

That's great that you have an outlet like that. I can't find any local groups for bipolar in my area. There used to be a DBSA group, but when I tried to contact them, my email got bounced back, so I guess it doesn't exist any more. My only other option is 2x a week drop in group therapy about 15 miles north of here at the county mental health office. But that place is a little scary. Soon I'll be seeing a psychiatrist up there. Maybe I'll check it out just once. But I'm glad you've got a group.
