Hey everyone. I am new here. I am diagnosed with bp 1, PTSD and an eating disorder. I regularly go to a therapist and a pdoc. I am pretty stable on meds. I look forward to meeting people who can understand how I am feeling. I read about this site from pendulum and regularly go to the moodgarden chat.

Hi,
I am Bipolar II and also have an eating disorder -- bulimia. I've never met anyone else with bipolar and an ED (though I knew it could co-exist). Would you mind telling me how you think your disorders interact? Also, have you found a good combination of medicines to treat both disorders (or without one med aggrevating the other)? I'm having a hard time trying to get a handle on both disorders -- it seems like I can only fix one, not both. I hate to chose between being depressed or binge eating, but these are the options that my psychiatrist is offering.

Jessie, I am taking trileptal, lamictal and abilify. All are pretty weight neutral meds. Gaining weight was a big concern of mine. I would have to say that on both extreme spectrums (I am dx bp 1) it tends to aggravate my ed. I see a t and a dietician to work on all aspects of my ed and bp. I am not sure how one can totally be separated from the other in t but I would not give up hope. They can be treated concurrently. My pdoc didn't give up on me and we have finally come up with a workable combination.
