It makes sense to me trippinmickey. I've been smoking since I was 12 years old. It's an addiction that is hard to break. To me it is a crutch when I'm stressed out. I've been wanting to quit for years, but just not been able to do it. As far as feeling better is because your body craves the nicotine and you are giving it what it wants. Sorry your venture to quit smoking was a bust.

Makes sense to me too! Unfortunately I can't smoke anymore...I promised myself, my husband, and daughter that I would never smoke again. I quit cold turkey the day I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. There are some days that I could REEEEALLLY use a cigarette but I just redirect that craving to something else and I usually forget about it. I do miss just sitting outside lost in my thoughts while chainsmoking

I started smoking about 18 months ago, when I started with a Major Depressive Episode. It was also a really stressful time as I'd just come out of a 3.5 year relationship. I don't smoke thaaaaaaaaaat much, around 10 cigs a day. Ironically, I was diagnosed with the depressive episode just after, so it kind of explains the correlation between stress and smoking.
A year later I was then dx'd with bipolar.

I quit smoking several times and it sucks!!! The last time was almost 2 months ago and Im sure if I started back up my body would rejoice. While my health declined. Its a bad habit and a hard one to quit. All you can do is try again when your ready. Dont be hard on yourself though at all!

You bet. Tobacco is a lovely thing. No one who's honest can condemn the pleasure that tobacco brings. Lots of people just persuade themselves that it's bad and awful all the time. But real smokers know that tobacco is a Good Thing. Of course, even Real Smokers know that tobacco is hugely dangerous, so it really comes down to whether you want to cut your life short or not. I smoked for the past 4 years and I love it. Like you, I didn't smoke all that much. You can't, with today's rules about where you can smoke. But I dearly love tobacco. Unfortunately for tobacco, I also would like to add a year or two to my life expectancy. So I quit. We'll see if it works. Take care!

I hope you can stay smoke free Ygrec23. I know how hard it is to try and quit. Wishing you the best of luck.

I first tried a cigarette at the age of 9, my parents were smokers back then and I wanted to see what was the big deal. I tried it and I was so repulsed to it, never did I pick up a cigarette until I was 12 that time I became a nicotine slave till I was 13. I have no idea how I was able to break the habit and be cigarette free for 2 years up until I was 15 when I started experimenting with drugs. Ever since 15 I have smoked everyday and I now smoke 1 pack -1 1/2 pack a day. I tried quitting twice since then but with no success. It just relieves me I guess. I enjoy my smoke breaks. I hope one day I will be smoke free

What about the electronic cigs. Much healthier as they pretty much only expel Nicotine. And if you're wondering if they work - my boyfriend who has been smoking for 20 years - more than a box a day - admits that the electronic cigs really do curb the cravings!
