Hey everybody, sorry I've been MIA for over a month. Saw my pdoc in early Aug&was given 50mgs of seroquel to take at night, taken off the temazepam bcuz it2u didn't help me sleep, but told to take it w/0.5mgs of klonopin twice daily. Started taking lamictal in the am which has helped tremendously. But my anxiety&depression were/are still not gettin better so pdoc said no more temazepam, just1mg of klonopin3times a day which made the anxiety go away. Got approved for free meds, including seroquel&went to another pdoc for another evaluation. She says I'm on the bad end of bipolar1 and need2b on "at least twice as much"lamictal&seroquel but she cut me down to only two 1mg klonopin a day&i feel the anxiety gettin worse and I'm either very happy or crying. If i need more of both seroquel&lamictal then why did she only raise my seroquel and not the lamictal? And how much longer do i have to continue bein depressed before i can finally take an antidepressant? She added hydroxyzine at night too, for EPS which i have no idea what it is.
Missed u guys, referred a few ppl to this site to help them out, too. Love u guys, any feedback will be greatly appreciated. |

Hi maryjain lockhart; how long have you been on lamictal? Your p-doc needs to increase the dose slowly (I started at 25 mg and now I'm at 200 mg), but this was done over 2 months. The reason why the dose is increased slowly is because it decreases the chance of Stevens Johnson Syndrome (deadly rash) from occurring. I found until my lamictal dose got to 100 mg / twice daily my mood was all over the place and I was being triggered into hypomania or mixed states. Now I have been fairly stable.
I hope that med combo works for you.

Welcome back!!!
It can take a while to get drugs right, be patient - it will get better - but it does suck at the time. Try writing a list of questions for your doctor next time you see her. Hope you can find a good combo soon.
