Hey all, I recently posted about my symptoms, and had said I was diagnosed bipolar when I was 18 (am now 30). Having issues with relationships due to my anger, etc......A few of you had said it sounded like borderline personality.....WELL....I had changed my pdoc because the last one that I was seeing ASKED me what my diagnosis was previous, but didnt really do an eval, threw some meds @ me and sent me on my way...I fired her azz!! haha...anyways, I went to a new one, who was lovely. The place itself is very relaxing, offers yoga, massage, group therapy which isnt the normal group therapy thats normally offered, its just a nice place, and the pdoc really listened, let me speak, and asked questions, and let me continue to speak. He was real thorough....He said, it sounds more like borderline than bipolar, but isnt going to say its not both. He took me off the geodon and prescribed me lamictal? Anyone take that??? How does it make you feel??? Id like to hear from you....Thanks again for the support, much appreciated. It really helps to put your thoughts, problems and even positive happenings out there and know there are people who will support you and can relate!

NoneGiven30; I'm glad you feel more comfortable with this pdoc. I'm on lamictal and I do like it. I had a hard time when I was first on it because it needs to be increased very slowly, so until I got to 100 mg am/pm my mood was all over the place. I hope lamictal works for you.

I am proud of you for switching Pdoc. It sounds like you make the right call. I am borderline and am going to start lamictal soon. Sorry I can't let you know what the drug is like. I just think it is great that you had the strenght to fire your previous Pdoc. Well Done!

Lamictal has done wonders for me (that and getting off SSRIs). The main thing is the slow increase - you have to stick to it and not try to speed it up. I had headaches at first but they went away after a month or so. Also, it increased my depression, so my doc added Wellbutrin, which seems to working well, too.

I have taken Lamictal (in generic - Lamotrigine) for over 2 years and it has worked very well. I don't have any side effects and it noticeably stabilized my mood.

Thanks for all the replies & compliments on strength. Had it not been for the fact that Im 30 and not 20, and also that my relationship means a lot to me, Id probably wouldve just stuck with the first Pdoc. But, @ 30 I just wanna feel somewhat normal, well, less angry and a tad more positive. Of course that takes time, but Im trying. SO, thats why she had to go, and I had to go to another. This one is 30 minutes away, and the old one was only 15, but I dont care how far the drive, its def worth it since I feel like they wanna help because he listened and seemed to really understand my moods, emotions and feelings and didnt blow me off. Ill keep posting as my therapy and everything continues and Im on my meds for a while.
Take care & thanks for the support. ![]()

I'm glad you made the decision to swap pdocs and that it seems to be working.
I'm on Lamictin and unfotunately cannot say it's helped with the depression. I'm on 100mg and have been for 3 months or so. My hypomania only lasts a day or so. And I think I've managed to lose weight on the Lamictin. But I haven't had any side-effects otherwise
