Antipsychotic meds seem to make the most difference in treating my illness. I am wondering, if my p-doc is really concentrating on tweaking the antipsychotics, does that mean that I might have something other than bipolar? I know that Seroquel is approved for use in bipolar disorder and that is what I take. My p-doc does not touch my mood stabilizer, but has raised my seroquel twice in a month.
Thoughts? |

Seroquel is a great mood stabilizer. It is FDA approved for both mania and bipolar depression. I am considering going on it for my next child because only tiny amounts get into breast milk.
Considering every other mood stabilizer out there but Lithium was originally intended to treat another condition....I am beginning not to give a crap what the original purpose of my meds was. Ask your Pdoc if she is considering a new diagnosis. I bet she is changing your Seroquel dose because it is the med that seems to be helping you the most. __________________ "Unipolar is boring! I agree with Amazon mom. A lot of the meds used for Bipolar originally were used to treat other illnesses, usually those having to do with errant or faulty brain nerve impulses such as those in epilepsy or schizophrenia. Doesn't mean that those are the diseases you have, but maybe the mechanisms giving you the most problems are that type of nerve cell dysfunction, perhaps? Huggs dear.

Very possible. I don't know why, but I have this burning need to figure out just what my diagnosis is. I am going for an evaluation in November. |

Well, you know, it's your brain, and sure, you want to know. It's the most normal reaction I can think of, and this has been rough for you, hon. I don't think your wanting to figure it out is wierd at all! Take care of your self, hon.

I am keep to try anti-psychotics. SSRI's have had too many side effects, Lamictin doesn't seem to work, and I cannot live on Klonopin to numb myself. Sulpiride worked really well.
