i'm on wellbutrin as i have depression as well as anxiety and bipolar too (what fun)

this seems really dumb

something in the wellbutrin builds up a really bad taste in my mouth, the saliva i guess, and whatever chemical/whatever it is builds up as time passes.

i must scrub off my dentures and wash out my mouth about 15 to 20 times a day now. you'd think after several years, i'd have gotten used to it.

at night, when i'm sleeping, it can build up and become so bitter that the taste in my mouth will actually wake me up.

it seems to be getting harder to get the taste out. used to be a good cleaning of my dentures and swishing around water in my mouth would do for about an hour. now i can't seem to get it to go away completely at all.

if there's anyone else out there with this problem, is there some food or fruit or drink (not alcohol) that helps tone it down?

thought i should add the funny part so it'll make you smile.

i used to wash out my mouth whenever i went to the bathroom. now, like pavlov's dog, every time i get the taste i have the urge to pee. often. very often these days.

what ticks me off, though, is all those miles i walk back and forth between the living room and bathroom, i should be losing 5 pounds a day.

I don't take Wellbutrin but I when I started on Seroquel the same thing happened to me.......just this awful chemical kind of taste. It builds up really bad when I'm sleeping but I'm pretty much aware of it all the time. I end up drinking a lot of flavored water.......momentary relief........

oh dear, i do that with the seroquel. but right now my gums are hurting a little too and i may have a slight gum infection 'cause the taste is getting worse? but that bad taste is just plain awful! thankfully, when i brush my teeth i don't have the urge to pee too.

this is pretty funny

I'm no help, either. I don't notice any difference with the Wellbutrin from other meds. It could be a chemical reaction specific to you, but I would definitely see a doctor about it. You could have some dental issue that needs to be addressed.
