Maybe this is a silly question, and I should just research, but it's always good to hear personal accounts. I'll be having an appt. in a couple weeks and figured it would be good to have some input beforehand to contemplate.
For anxiety, I've always had Xanax (well, the generic alprazolam). The majority of the time, just having it on hand to use very sparingly works well enough. Certain spans of time require greater use, though I always try a smaller amount to start (splitting pills) and only take more if that isn't working. Ok, probably pretty obvious. Recently, I've had considerable levels and frequency of panic attacks and serious anxiety. And there have been times when a full 1 mg (?? would have to look on label, but I know there's a 1) is just not cutting the mustard. I'm not sure I want to take as much xanax as is being needed to keep it under control. It's not that I'm worried about becoming dependent, it's more that I'm wondering if there are alternatives that might have a longer lasting effect. Especially if it were something that could be taken just for those spells where panic is particularly out of hand. Experiences? Ideas? |

Clonazepam - Klonopin - is very similar but has a longer half-life. You may want to look into that
