Ok, I had a social security disability hearing on Friday and the necessary paperwork was not sent by my county mental health agency so the hearing has been postponed until I have an evaluation by a social security employed psychiatrist. So I will not be getting my social security anytime soon. My unemployment runs out the first week of December (I will max out at 99 weeks). And finally, I have to move out of my house by December 31st. My landlord is selling the house I have lived in for 16 years. I have no income and cannot afford to get an apartment and have no where to go.
Here's the odd thing: I could care less. I am not upset about all that has happened and what is going to happen by losing my home. Could this be the start of a manic epsoide or is it that my medication is working that well? I am confused about this. Anyone have any feedback on this? Skully; I'm sorry that you are getting the run around regarding your disability. I'm glad that you're having a positive attitude. Use this attitude to look into services that can help you, speak to friends and family about it and look into affordable housing. You can do this.

I agree with Beth, if not caring is a motivation to take positive steps, then it's good. Too many people freeze up in fear, do nothing and end up in an even worse situation. You can definitely do this!!

Maybe you're not reacting because you're in shock. There's so much happening at once. I agree with everyone above. I'd use this time to try to figure out what you're going to do especially because you're positively motivated.

I think it is your meds helping you to stay stable and view things realistically and not going off the deep end either way. I'm thankful that you can go out and attack you problems reasonably, and be realistic about them. The right med combo is such a blessing. I hope things work out for you this coming month.

My pdoc just took me off Geodon about 2 weeks ago and I started 15mg of Abilify along with 200mg of Lamictal. I think that is the right combo for me because I am handling a lot of stress and pressure very well. I haven't even had to take a valium yet.
Thank you all for your replies, I am working on coming up with plan B now...it's not easy because I have my dogs that I cannot lose. I have lost everything else and I am NOT going to lose them as well! I will live in a tent in the woods in the middle of winter before I give them up! __________________ Be who you are and say what you feel... Because those who matter.. Don’t mind... Did you start the Lamictal at 200 mg? I was started at 12.5 and increased 12.5 once a week until I was up to the proper dosage.
I know what you mean about your dogs. I'm the same way; I will do anything not to lose them. Hope plan "b" works for you! Quote:

Hi Skully, I would check with local animal rescue organizations because they may be able to help you find a temporary foster home for the dogs while you get settled. I was part of a board that took in pets for women entering a women's shelter, so there are groups out there.
