I left a message for my p-doc about all the sickness I have been having on Depakote. She hasn't called me back yet, and I did take my dose this morning (I skipped last night because I was really sick and vomiting again). Now I am feeling some heart burn brewing even though I was very careful about what I ate today. My dillema is that if I take my evening dose, I will very likely have heart burn and/or vomit tonight.

If I don't hear from my p-doc, I am considering skipping my dose again tonight.

Can you take a smaller dose? Do you know if it needs to be tapered down? It can be dangerous to stop some drugs suddenly.

I could just take my old dose of 250 both morning and night. It wasn't working before and I had to go to the hospital and they raised my dose to 625 per day. That dose put me n zombie land with violent sickness. My p-doc told me to take my 500mg every day and every other day take an extra 125 to equal 625.

And I had heartburn on the 500mg per day as well.

I really think that Depakote is slowly poisoning me.

Hope things work out... sounds reasonable to me but still try to check with your pdoc, or check with a gp...

I hope your pdoc gets back to you really soon - is there no emergency line you can contact? Otherwise I would really decrease my dose

I would keep calling you pdoc, every hour, on the hour! Squeaky wheels get grease! That is madening that your pdoc has not called you back yet! Keep on him/her until you get that call back.

Not sure what to do about meds. Thoughts?
Thanks for this!

I did finally hear from her this morning. I am going back down to my original dose and keep an eye on my symptoms.

Last night I was sick to my stomach again and had diarrhea and heartburn.

Just a reminder of how carefully we need to monitor ourselves and how aware we need to be of our bodies' normal reaction, and when to notice a problem. Being poisoned by meds that are supposed to help me - that scares me tremendously.
BNL - glad things are looking up. And I agree that dropping the dose is probably the right thing for now; I just hope you manage to remain stable.
