Holding thumbs...! Sleep is so important - but is an Ativan enough to put you to sleep?

I work in a small family run business which is having financial difficulities. Work in the accounting dept doing AP, AR, Payroll and things are day by day as they are short of money to pay the bills. The owner spends winters in Florida but visits occassionally during the winter. When he is gone his son is the boss.

About a week ago the son comes into my office asking for the 2010 Payroll records book. Told him were they were and went back to work, doing year end W-2's, 1099's, 940, 941's etc. Found out that the owner was coming into town last Thursday and he did. He came into my office late Thursday and asked me if I took it upon my self to increase my pay by THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS last year....WTF. Let me get this straight, your accusing me of being a thief before you even take the time to investigate to see if there is any basis for this accusation? My response was obviously NO I DID NOT. Thinking to myself where the hell did this come from, his son of course. It was verified on Monday that no, there was no evidence of any money missing. They were not forth coming with this info and I had to ask. Nor was there an apology offered up.

Now I am just PISSED that they would accuse me of being a criminal and thinking about submitting my Letter of Resignation today. I have never had anything like this happen in the past. I am a very professional person and my reputation & charchater are clean. But, it is hard to go to work every morning looking over my shoulder to see what kind of crap the son is going to pull next.

I have felt sick about this all weekend and in fact it runined my weekend. Was so depressed about it and did not have the energy to do much. News on the economy is encouraging so I just might go and resign in the hopes of a better work opportunity in the future.

UP ALL NIGHT IN MARYLAND.
