My care worker seems to think it may be more Borderline disorder than Bipolar, it makes sense that that is the case when i am feeling low, but when i am manic, i know its bipolar, but i cant see that right now or get that across to her. My mood started dropping last night.

She is arranging me to have some sessions with a psychologist to look at things a bit more in depth.
Then see a proper mental health doc in March for a full assessment or something.

You might want to look up borderline personality disorder and bipolar so you can compare them. You can do that here at PsychCentral. Also, here is a link on an article comparing the two.

It is possible to have both. Also, if one is under control, the other may not be, so you might shift symptoms. Symptoms of the two often overlap as well.

I can attest to that, it was brought to my attention that I have quite a few borderline traits... meds have helped a great deal tho.

Some of the symptoms are shared between BP and BPD. The main difference is a person with BPD, their moods are constantly labile (they are up and down constantly). This would be seen as that person's baseline. When a person describes their symptoms as rapid cycling BP it could actually be BPD.

If a person has BP, the symptoms aren't always present and it actually changes the person from who they are when they're stable.

Have a look on the PC homepage where it lists symptoms of the various disorders. I don't hear voices

Transient, stress-related paranoid thoughts or severe dissociative symptoms is listed as a symptom of BPD... not sure if that covers hallucinations though....

I'm not sure if it really matters coz for BP therapy and meds has been shown to be better than meds alone and for BPD the treatment is therapy with meds for symptomatic treatment...
so what to do is much the same, just dealing with BPD is more on the therapy and less on the meds and BP is more on the meds and less on the therapy....

I think we all have personality issues that contribute/ complicate our BP, that's what our triggers are often about. I would recommend spending time in T discussing what triggers and upsets you. Best of luck with your journey.

I don't believe I had diagnosable borderline personality disorder, but I have more than one symptom of it, as well as type II bipolar disorder.
