I'm not sure if this is okay on the boards or not, but I'm looking to sell a MedicAlert watch that I bought a couple years ago. It has the engraving "BIPOLAR DISORDER" on the back and I basically got it to alert anyone that I'm taking a bunch of medications, and give the emergency contact information like my husband and psych nurse's phone numbers.

If you would like a watch like this, send me a private message and we can handle everything.

It's a ladies' Citizen watch - check out medicalert.org for more information.

If you want the MedicAlert service, you'll have to become a member. They can transfer the watch from my information to yours.

That's not a bad idea at all.

I think that's a great idea!

I had been considering getting a bracelet. Can I ask why you are selling the watch?

Oh... found you again!

I was wondering, how would folks phrase it?

I just didn't like wearing a watch all the time, it bugged me. But I'm not one to wear much jewelry or stuff on me anywhere. And we live in a small town with only one hospital and that hospital has my information on file. I guess I feel like I don't need it.

I'm not sure what you mean. It's Medic - like medical - and Alert, combined into one word. I guess maybe they should be two words - Medic Alert.

Sorry, I mean how should the information be written? In my case would I put "schizoaffecive, alergies..." I can't put my meds, because they might change, but it would be a good idea for someone to know I'm on meds, since there are so many interactions. I just wonder what I would put.

Oh, ok. The back of the watch is fairly small, so you can't put too much on there. You could simply put "taking medications" or "allergies". Then you have your information stored with MedicAlert - your medications, your emergency contact information, allergies, everything. If someone finds you in an emergency, all they have to do is call MedicAlert and get your information. You can update it whenever you want.
