I was diagnosed bipolar 10 years ago and adhd 3 years ago. I became depressed in early December. By the end of January, the depression got worse and I went to see my doctor. I was on Adderall xr up to this point and she added Topamax because of the depression. Within a few days I was in a full blown mixed state. I was pulled of the Adderall and Zyprexa was added. Over the next week lithium was also added to the mix. The first 5 days after starting the Zyprexa, I slept about 18 hours each day. Since then (for the past 2 weeks), I have only been sleeping between 3-5 hours and waking up every 2-3 hours. I was started on Welbutrion for the adhd to help the sleeping 3 days ago. I thought I was getting better but now I am more irritable, restless, and constantly busy the entire day, and my thoughts are becoming more erratic again. I have no idea if this is from lack of sleep or the medicine. The medicine is supposed to be helping me sleep and I think that it might be doing some good since I was able to sleep 5 hours straight last night (or it could have been because I was just incredibly tired). My doctor told me to stop the Welnuturion if I thought the medicine was making things worse. I feel like I am becoming more manic again but I can’t tell if the medicine is helping or hurting. Any thoughts or opinions?

While I'm not a doctor, I can advise you to call yours and be real clear about what you are experiencing. Sounds like the med combo you are on is really not working. I was treated with stimulants for ADD and I have bipolar disorder. I have some idea what you might be going through. If you need someone to talk to, I'll be here.

I will be talking to mine tomorrow. Does the add cause sleep trouble for you?

I no longer take a stimulant. So I can't really relate to what you might be experiencing now. I know it used to make me agitated when it would wear off. It made me irritable, and frustrated that I had lost focus.
