Well, let me give you a little bit. 2 appointments ago my Pdoc asked me to consider bringing family into an appointment. For those of you who have done this what were the pros and cons of doing so. I'm very apprehensive to bring anyone even family to an appointment with Pdoc or T. I just am not sure that it would really be helpful. Let me know what you think.

I think the pros and cons depend on your family. did they say why they want you to bring them?
I recently brought my husband to Therapy, which was a 1 time deal - I think it was helpful for him to hear from someone else tell him certain things about me, like that i'm extra sensitive and obsess and need a lot of reassurance... When I was in the hospital my parents came to hear from the drs about my treatment or prognosis. but if you think it will be a problem, you know your family.... |

i take my OH to my pnurse stuff if he's here cos then they can talk to him. i've been told most pdocs / nurses only believe 10% of what you tell them so if it comes from someone else then they're more likely to believe them. also, people who live with you are probably more aware of your mood shifts than you are

If that were true the Pdocs only believe 10% of what you tell them why is it not a requirement before treatment...mine seems to believe me...but then again maybe she just acts like it.

I brought my family into therapy and I found that they had kept better record of my moods, sleeping/eating habits, etc. than I did! It's good to get an outside perspective on things sometimes. I found it was also helpful because it made my treatment seem like more of a team effort thing, which is less daunting than facing it alone. The only downside for me was that now they're on my back all the time - but I suppose that although it's annoying, it's a good thing!
