I am sitting in a Border’s Bookstore using their wifi. It is hot and miserable in Tallahassee today. The temp is supposed to reach the mid to upper 90’s and it is very muggy.
I have reconnected with a friend that I had thought I had lost forever. But this person has re-entered my life and that is a very good thing. She had an episode and she was hospitalized for a while. While she was there she blamed me for being hospitalized. She is now realizing that what she thought had happened did not.
That does not help me much except that I am glad to have my friend back in my life. She is very special to me.
I ran into a police officer today that thinks all homeless people are just lazy. We got into a discussion on this topic and I asked him if that included the people that had lost their housing because of the economic downturn and that they had lost their jobs. He stated bluntly that they should have planned better. He is very short sighted in his thinking.
I explained to him that with all the cuts that are purposed here locally that there are thinking of cutting the police force by up to 15% and that he could lose his job. I asked him what he would do, he stated that he would move back in with his parents. I then told him that according to HUD he would be considered homeless. His eyes got very big and started to say something, but instead he just turned and left.
Amazing what happens when you confront people with facts.

So glad you have a place to keep cool for now, and that your friend is back in your life.

As for the police officer....shame on him for being such an ******
What if his parents lost their home? Would he tell them they were lazy and poorplanners too? Good for you for saying what you did - I hope it will help him open his eyes.
Thanks for this!
