Has anyone read the book Welcome to the Jungle: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Bipolar but Were too Freaked Out to Ask?
Not long after I was diagnosed, I did an Amazon search for books about Bipolar, and this one is one that stuck out along with a few others. I planned on buying it, but with my bank account dwindling and the end of the semester approaching meaning I wouldn't have time to read anyway, I didn't. Since then, I've wanted to read it, and multiple people on boards like this have recommended it. There's a preview on Amazon, the introduction, and I read that a couple of days ago and it really sparked my interest. Well, I was downtown today, and I decided to go to the library to see if they had it, and they did, so I checked it out. On the bus ride home, I started reading it. I got through the first chapter. Wow. It's the first book in awhile that I've read that is able to fully hold my interest (I had/have pretty bad concentration problems). It's funny, insightful and informative. I'm really glad I got it, and I definitely plan on reading the entire thing which is something rare for me with self-help books and the like, usually I just read bits and pieces such as a chapter here and there. If you haven't read it, I would highly recommend it, especially if you are newly diagnosed. Thoughts? |
