If anybody remembers the Ray Charles song. I've been singing it quite a lot. Well, I'm low on maybe 6 or 7 meds. See, yes, I'm bipolar but in the past 1 1/2 year I got Sjogren's Syndrome, I've had osteoporosis for quite some time now, lithium messed up my thyroid so I have to take hormone for that, I got IBS, migraines (thak God my doc gives me samples of the med for that!). Well, I had to retire because I felt so bad. The docs wouldn't cooperate so I could get a medical retirement, so I just retired early and will get a cut in pension. But I haven't received any money yet. I have $7.36 in my checking account and no savings. Now my regular doc did call and said that they have some Evista which is wonderful because it's $70 a month because is brand. But I'm alergic to the generic stuff (Fosamax). So that will help. I do have a little money on one of my credit cards that is not overdue and the rest is generic so I will be ok. Hopefully I won't run out of anything else before I get some money. Thanks everyone for listening to me. I appreciate it. I don't have a therapst anymore. Remember, he thinks I'm sane. (ha, ha). Love, Owl.

Sounds like a lot going on...

Where are you located? Your phrase "medical retirement" sounds different from what I'm use to hearing here in US.

I am a former Federal Civil Service Employee. They have a medical retirement you can do if you're too sick to work. It is not easy to get. I hear now it's as almost as bad as disability. But I would have gotten more money. But I had to retire. I was only working one day a week. Eventually they would have probably fired me. I was only 2 years from full retirement. I worked in Indianapolis Indiana for 27 1/2 years.

owllover! Any idea when some of the money might be coming through? I'm glad your regular doctor is able to get some Evista to you. Every little bit helps.
Hope your money starts coming through soon -- keep us posted, ok?

Thanks, everyone. I called Washington today about my "interim" pension (that's what it's called until you get your total pension) and I was told "We only received your (I think it was application) May 19th. We have a month to process it. With no compassion, mind you, this is the Federal Government talking here. And this was after I told her I had $7.36 in my checking account.
I did get the Evista today (3 weeks worth) and I got my generic meds. I have to go back and finish getting my thyroid hormone (I think it's a weird strength).
I do have it's like a 401K (it's called TSP account). Last week I had to fax something to them to help get that money. I'm gonna call them in the morning and make sure they got it and find out when I can draw out money, etc. I intend to get out just what I need because I'm gonna file bankruptcy with my credit cards, etc. While it's in the account, they can't touch it. And I think they can't touch my pension, either.
I will find out before I make any concrete plans. I'll let you guys know. Thanks for the interest. I know for everyone it's hard enough being bipolar, and I seen someone had to mess with slumlords (I had to for years because I never made the money to have a nice place). Yeah, all kinds of life problems. I will pray for all. Love, Owl.
