OK ... so I've noticed a big trend with Bipolars and in myself in general ... I wanted to see if anyone else here had the same thoughts, etc.

So, we all know that many Bipolars are creative people. Smart individuals that have brought some of today's literature, entertainment, music, art, etc to a different level.

I have always (since I can remember) been outspoken, smart, daring, and talented. At a young age of 3 or 4 I would answer the phone at my house saying, "Morales residence, with whom do I have the pleasure to speak with?" ... I was posing for the camera and playing pretend with such a vivid imagination it was scary!!

I then got into acting, singing, radio broadcasting for a children's radio station, drawing, etc. In school I was in Magnet and Advanced Placement programs dominating two languages and learning a third. Always at the top of my class.

I simply cannot remember a time where my mind was not planning, imagining, calculating, etc.

Just the other day I had some music on and instead of just listening to the songs my mind carried me into a new world. I was modeling again, singing karaoke of the song playing, or exercising my body to a lean and fit shape that Jennifer Lopez would be jealous of!

I had a smile from ear to ear and started making goals to working out after having my baby and getting back into a size 1-3 and looking for modeling work again. (I did modeling for years and stopped after being diagnosed and gaining weight due to meds).

I can spend hours just daydreaming and planning. Sometimes I come up with AWESOME ideas, put them into action and things work out great! But other times I set myself up for failure.

Here is one thing I did as a little girl that I always wondered if anyone else did this: I think about the numbers from 1-10. Each number has a color, a gender, an age, and a relationship to each other.

i.e: 1 is green, a middle aged woman married to 2 who is white and the same age. They are the parents of 3 who is a little boy (yellow) and 4 a teenage girl (green like her mom).

Anyone else have these thoughts? Moments of creativity?

Oh, Venus is very creative. I have these what I call visions when I speak of something... sometimes somehow unrelated. For example, I was talking V-E day with my friends and it brought me into midst of this vision where I saw myself sitting on ruins, smelling lilacs wanting to be happy that the war is over... but I having been through too much made it impossible to truly rejoice.

When I listen to music, I sometimes make video clips to it in my head or start basing a story on it. I make up people often. I make up stories of people when hearing news... I imagine the average person's story...

I write poetry and short essays (see my blog), I love to create a personal style...

I'm ridiculously creative. I have been since I was a child. But I'm also impulsively creative which means I have tons of craft supplies and decorating stuff I don't need/use - beads, clay, paint, stickers, various room decorations... it doesn't help that I love collections as well. D:

Mmm I have always drawn, painted, anything in the visual arts. I learnt to knit and sew at five. Make my own patterns, I usually work from my mind, no patterns. I refinish furniture, I make sculptures out of anything lying around. I used to dumpster dive to find objects that I could use to create with. I used to write poetry but it has a depressing effect. I feel a strong urge to create with anything lying around me. Hard to keep my hands off.

I bought a huge loom at a garage sale a few weeks ago. I have no idea how to use it but I am so excited to teach myself.

I would consider myself fairly smart. I'm only have my grade 9 due to being a homeless kid but I managed to get myself through collage twice with no upgrading. I have many expansive ideas, but is it me or bp.

oh, yes, I used to do the same as you, only with beans. Not sure why but I would do this in my mom's garden and then not let her pick the special ones belonging to my bean family. I did it at dinner time too as a kid, I think out of boredom since my parents would make me sit there for hours till I was done.

~On the other hand, when I was sent to my room when I was small, I would grab a straw from the kitchen on the way to my room. Then I would repeatedly stab myself in the eye with it. Umm that is not so bright, and I do not recommend doing this to yourself.

I used to write poetry once in a while, but haven't for years now. I do, however, love to cook. That is where my real creativity shines. The different flavors, colors, textures - they all come together. I like to experiment with different things - and when I'm manic, look out! I go into cooking frenzies and my family eats very well for a while until I either crash into a depression or spin out of control. But even when I'm not manic, the drive to cook is there, just not as intense.

Sometimes that's my million dollar question. The blurred line between where "we" end and our "illness" begins.
