So yesterday i meet my new pdoc ( state dr 2 assess if i really need meds cos i've got no more insurance) he dxd me with the same 3 things. I wasn't expecting any miracles, but geewizz am i entirely transparent or just majorly screwed up that both of them can decide i need help upon meeting me?! *blow 2 self esteem* sigh... Just needed to vent.

I've been dxd twice too. Once at 17, I denied it, threw out the meds and carried on. 10 years later had a total breakdown, went into GP's office, put me on lithium set up Pdoc app. Go in to see Pdoc, BAM second dxd. That sort of solidified the deal for me. I took it pretty hard tho, my dad was also BP and we had a horrible relationship, so I took it as "I am just like my dad" which is of coarse not true.

I'm not like anyone. I'm the only bp'er in this huge family, go figure!

Well that can be a good thing. Less preconceived ideas. My dad was not very well liked and was considered by most to be very peculiar and off his rocker.

But I'm not like him, I'm just like me. Bipolar isn't gonna change that. Same for you, your just still you maybe with some added flare, well that's what I say about about it.

oh good, I don't want you feeling like a freak.

Ya you'd think right, I guess it's all individual to the dr. My first psychiatrist was very old school, Rorschach (ink blot) test and all. Second one was great, wanted to really know you. Third one, meh looking for a replacement, he truly sucks.

Took me ages to get diagnosed, probably because I was so used to hiding it. But when I heard bipolar, and later schizoaffective I was very upset... I assumed it meant I would be just like my mother. Interesting how often that theme comes up!
