I started having migranes on a consistant basis five months ago. I have been to a neurologist who wasn't very helpful. I had a CT scan and blood work that both came back normal. He mentioned something about putting me on preventative medicine to try and stop them but I'm wondering:

Is it possible for me to be getting side effects from my BP meds after being on them for a year? I don't think they would just pop up like that after so long but my boyfriend thought it would be worth asking.

Well, anything is possible. But I would say unprofessionally that it is unlikely.

I don't know how old you are but I didn't start getting migraines till my mid 20s... and then they were almost constant.
there are certain meds that might make them worse, but sometimes people just start getting migraines. Did your dr have you start a food diary to see if you're eating things that might trigger them, or certain smells?

Luckily there are preventatives that really help them that are also good for bipolar, like Topamax, which i've been taking for a long time.

I went from having migraines almost daily to only 1x a month so I know what your going through - feel free to PM me with questions - I would suggest finding a neurologist that specializes in headache or migraines - it made a big difference for me to do so.
