I see T tomorrow and need to know if it is a healthy friendship when both people are bipolar? My mom has told me to stay away from this friend but honestly she is the only friend I have and who is my mom to tell me who can and cant be my friend? Hubby thinks Im still manic after 6 weeks. He doesnt think the Geodon is working but I hate to have to switch to another med and get use to that. I was just put on Lamicatal and pdoc said he will increase it every time I see him. As far as antipsycotics go I have been on alot. I dont know what else there is. Sorry for bouncing around on subjects.

That says it all as far as the friendship goes, astone.

Lamictal will level you out, but it takes several weeks to get to the therapeutic dose. I think Geodon is an antipsychotic that also treats mania. Maybe your doctor doesn't want to change your Geodon dosage until the lamictal gets to the right dose.

Why does Hubby think you are manic? Do you feel manic?

I meant that to be a quote of what you said in your first post up there about you feeling your mom had no right to pick your friends. Your BP friend can be a big help to you. She understands everything your going through and must be a big part of your support system. Why does your mom think you shouldn't have her as a friend?

Mom didnt say she just said I need to stay away from her. Maybe cause she abuses her meds, doesnt take them right. Maybe because she isnt stable. I dont know for sure

Her abusing her meds is possibly an affect of the illness... I think a lot of people do that at some point in an attempt to self medicate.

Well I find that having a friend who is BP is helpful. They understand me and I understand them. Not only that but being there for one another can be helpful too. Why don't you ask your mom exactly why she said that. Then you can think about why she thinks that and even ask your husband what he thinks. My husband has been right on all my friends but yet I made the final choice.
