Hello
I just took my 1st dose of Geodon - experiencing the requisite side effects (drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth). How long do these side effects last? I cannot miss any more work - I was out 2 weeks ago for an allergic reaction/steroid psychosis (lol!). If they are going to be like this for a while, should I wait to start taking it so I don't miss work again right now? I am so dizzy that I am afraid to drive. Thanks in advance.

I don't know about geodon. I would call your pdoc and let them know what your symptoms are to find out what you should do.

I was on Geodon for about a year and a half about 3 years ago. The two things I remember was 1) how totally wiped out I felt after I took the morning dose. This meant at about 10 am I was slumped at my desk falling asleep. Not good. We rearrranged my dose so I took less in the morning and this got better. I am very sensitive to all meds. 2) I remember how hard it was for me to titrate OFF of it, but taking it real slow helped. Far from perfect though for me.

I had to take Geodon around suppertime so that the sedative aspect was pretty much worn off by morning. Unfortunately, it didn't always wear off and I had problems driving so I finally had to be pulled off of it. Too bad, because the medication actually worked really well.
